Ron Billano Ordona, DNP, FNP-BC, GS-C
Assistant Clinical Professor
Ron Billano Ordona is an assistant clinical professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. As a clinician educator, Dr. Ordona provides patient care at the Healthy Aging Clinic at UC Davis Health and precepts and mentors family nurse practitioner and physician assistant students in the clinic and other sites.
Ordona is a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC) and a certified gerontological specialist (GS-C) focused on the care of older adults, especially in community- and residential-based settings. He is also in private practice as a home-based primary care (HBPC) provider of house calls for vulnerable and homebound elderly populations.
Ordona’s quality improvement project for his Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree (DNP) was a practice pilot of Transitional Care Management (TCM) House Calls, which showed that polypharmacy was statistically significantly reduced by implementing TCM house call visits for patients discharged from skilled nursing facilities.
Ordona’s focus on community and residential care of older adults includes providing support for caregiver training in residential care settings. He is so passionate about encouraging more health care professionals into the community and residential care settings that he sponsors the Roleto and Amparo Ordona Endowed Scholarship in Nursing for Community-Based Senior Care in honor and memory of his parents. He is also a founding donor to the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing.
